Maybe not as awful as LGA, but also not worth the expedition it takes to get here. Just fly from JFK and at least you'll have some amenities to distract yourself with.

An UberX from the west village cost me $65 to get to terminal A. Not too shabby.
Traveling to and from Brooklyn, I prefer this airport over JFK or LGA.
Going back to nyc late at night? Take the Newark airport express bus.. Only $15 and its super fast when there's no traffic!
Terminal A is terrible. Try to eat before and leave enough time to get through TSA if you don’t have Pre...if you cut it close, you will miss your flight.
Ariel HermanMay 28, 2017Possibly the worst airport in the US. Security lines are congested. In some terminals each concourse has its own unconnected security checkpoint. Slow and small air train which often breaks down.

If you don't want to taxi or train into #nyc take the bus! Pick up every 14 minutes

Newark Airport sushi=no bueno. A word to the wise: stay away from Hamachi Sushi in terminal C.
The food vendors in terminal C are run by OTG. It takes a LONG time to get your food, the quality is inconsistent, and it’s expensive.

U.S. customs is usually pretty fast on weekdays, but nightmarishly slow on Saturday. Expect 1+ hr wait times in line.
Better than the other 2 NYC airports. Still long lines. Crowded. Old. Needs a major overhaul
Take the Air Tran / NJ Transit to get to and from EWR - cheapest and easiest way to do it.
Dahvi ShiraNovember 23, 2011Eeep this airport is NO jfk. Limit your spending here to alcoholic beverages-NOT meals. The "meals" are scary. But I do like the east free wi-fi they have at this airport. That's a +. Otherwise mehh

Take a cab and avoid the long term parking unless you have an extra hour to spare

Arrivals and departure decks can work to your advantage when getting dropped off and picked up.

Newark where the bathrooms are pissy and the people are pissier!!
I fly in and out of here because I don't want to go to JFK, but not very comfortable or equipped. They don't even have free WiFi
If renting a car Budget is great. Sheila H is wonderful!

The wine bar in terminal C by gate 74 is excellent, and only mildly expensive.

Currito by A18 is amazing. Best airport food I've eaten in a long time.

Only takes about 45 minutes to get here from Penn Station in Manhattan.
Take the express bus if going to midtown Manhattan. $16 each way (vs ~13 on the train)
