The most helpful ppl at the airport are the employees working in the Air Train waiting areas. Not only are they there to help passengers, they actually ask if anyone needs help. Very odd at EWR.
If you travel internationally and land at Newark or JFK a lot, you should seriously consider joining the government's Global Entry system and avoid the immigration lines. Well worth $100 for 5 years.
There are more coin operated phone booths than outlets for cell phone charging. #modern
Terminal A is not a place you want to spend a long time hanging around. Unless you enjoy pain.

Easiest Airport to get from NYC if you live downtown on the West Side... Easy $12 train from Penn Station that takes 20min
The $16 Newark Express a wonderful, comfy coach bus but it does NOT come every 15 minutes. Bundle up.
Returning from an international flight at this airport will cause you to claim your checked luggage, check it again & go through security again. Plan time accordingly.
For arrivals, try to get a seat on the left side of the plane for views of Manhattan
Speed through security easier. Put phones, watches and change in carry on bag to be scanned. Reduce bin need to laptop and toiletries. Shoes directly on belt first. Fave parking is P4

Give yourself a little extra time to get through security.
Out of the three tri state airports this ranks as number two. Outside the United Terminal, terminals B & C are pitiful. The Airtrain is slow tiny and old. So be sure to allocate the appropriate time

Bus to Grand Central on $15 each way. Comes every 15 min. Takes 40 mins. Go dwnstrs to stop #2. Taxi will cost you approx $70 w tip and tolls.

There is a shuttle, which no one knows about, between terminals. Do ask about it.

Try to avoid the PDA couple when taking the weirdly divided AirTrain cars that fit, well you and that couple
Use automatic tickets machines whenever possible bc check-in lines here get LOONNNGGG. Also, the SAS Biz Class lounge looks like an IKEA cafeteria and opens at 4pm daily.
For God sake! I know the environment is important but put the freaking paper towels back in the restrooms! Those air dryers blow! And not in a good way!
Grand Central Oyster Bar is worth a stop. Better than most airport eats.
Arrive a bit earlier on Mondays or equivalents for TSAPee Check at terminal C. Just not enough space or people.
Avoid like the plague for a few years. Much need upgrades happening but at a huge short term cost to current passengers.
Taxi line makes you prepay if you want to use credit card, and adds a $5.50 fee. That is some bullshit... and seems illegal?
Airtrains run every 15 minutes to the terminal in the early morning...so don't push your time for a 5 or 6 am flight.
