Philo T. Farnsworth, inventor of the television, had these steps dedicated in his honor near the house he lived in while he was developing the first all-electric "television system" in the late 1920s.
The Octagon House was built by William McElroy in 1861. His letter "To Future Ages" and newspapers accompanying it, which were discovered in a box under the stairs during restoration, are on display.
