After El Prado, this is the best art museum in Madrid. Great collection of masters from medieval to 20th Century. Perfect to have a comprehensive vision of the history of art.
Museum is en el Palacio de Villahermosa (Paseo del Prado). Offers a variety of masterpieces from 13th to late 20th century. I liked most final rooms with avant-grade pop art collection.

Allow 2h30-3h for this museum, or skip the medieval bit - the last rooms are absolutely amazing & you'll wish you'd allowed more time for them! Not a lot of signs - download the apps for explanations.

A good portion of the 1st floor is closed as of November 2022. I love this place but really missed seeing Ernst, Pollock, Rothko, etc. this time around.

Totally recomending it! Even if you're not a connaiseur, you'll be impressed. Loved the Woman in bath of Roy Lichtenstein and most of the north american paintings.
