Great mix of local Boston pub mood in a touristy area; great for someone like me that wants to be a fly on the wall when I’m new in town! Also, damn — try the mac and cheese with pulled pork.
On a busy night if you are looking for a little quiet head downstairs. If you want entertainment, watch people as they come down the stairs. Trust me, it gets better as the night goes on.
Named after Michael "Nuf Ced" McGreevy, the leader of the Royal Rooters - the Red Sox fan club in the 1910s. His Third Base Saloon was Boston's original sports bar - and is now McGreevy's!
McGreevy's original "Third Base" saloon was located at 940 Columbus Ave, near the Roxbury Crossing T stop and close to the old Huntington Grounds, where the Boston Americans (now the Red Sox) played.
Check out the history about this bar, pretty cool! Everything from its original days of "Nuf Ced", & now Dropkick Murphy leader Ken Casey & Peter Nash reviving & reopening it. Great stuff! Read more
