Cutter HouckJuly 24, 2015I lived on this block. Don't let the traditional bar fool you. The food is good. Corn fritters and also the flank steak is excellent, if you wanna pay a little more. Harvey and Richie are great!
Max's is home to plentiful, tasty & comforting, dishes that are sure to satisfy any hungry patron. Live bands, trivia & karaoke do not disappoint.Truly the melting pot of the Beacon bar scene. Enjoy.

jamie macdonaldAugust 3, 2013The pulled pork sandwich blew me away. Heavy on the sauce but well worth it. One of the best I've ever had. Hot open turkey sandwich was thoroughly enjoyed by people with me too. I would come again!

Serious EatsMay 22, 2014For cocktails, try a Maxtini - a play on a Cosmo that add grapefruit juice for kick of sour-sweet flavor.
Chicken Caesar wrap is phenomenal, and so big it becomes 2 meals.. for under $10. This place never disappoints.
The Rib Eye Steak is never a disappointment!! (I leave off the Shallot Compound Butter - the steak is so good it's just not needed!!)
Come for the food. Stay for the drinks. Miss your train for the people.

Tom DiMaggioJune 30, 2017Food wasn't as good as I had hoped, service seemed a little checked out. Looks like it would be fun during a big sporting event, they have the space and TVs for it.
The beef stew (which is only occasionally offered as a special) should not be missed.
