- Grim, unkempt and dated. Add insult to injury, no trains to Liverpool after 22:30 on Sunday night so plan ahead!Upvoted 2 days ago
- AshleyJuly 27, 2014The most insane security on the planet. Allow an extra 30 min for them to hand inspect everythingUpvoted 1 day ago
- Diana DomanMay 21, 2015The man who works in security at the flight transfer made me never want to visit this country again. Made life unnecessarily difficult for every person who passed through.Upvoted Oct 16
- TelecastermanDecember 2, 2017Security a shambles in T1 again! Fast lane now slowest- come on Manchester even LA beat you hands down now
- Ivor YardJanuary 1, 2018Saw a comment on landing that it’s a poor airport, you don’t realise how poor until you leave. Security checking of liquids was absolute shambles, all customer felt victimised. Won’t be hurrying back.
- Hillary LOctober 11, 2021Worst-designed I’ve ever flown in the w world. carry-on screening designed by a steampunk enthusiast who loves redundancy. absurd people flow design & slooow AF. Long walk to gate, no moving walkway.
- MagDecember 30, 2016T3: arrive early, security check is strict and takes ages. waiting lounge is small and overcrowded, but WHSmith has a good choice of healthy-ish snacks
- Catherine KlafferDecember 9, 2018Be warned! Security checks are waaaaaay up and they are confiscating anything that may ‘be’ a liquid or remotely may ‘become’ a liquid. ££££££ .
- Such a rubbish airport. Do not go early. There is nowhere to sit. Having just flown in from Hong Kong (a beautiful airport much like Singapore) it's such a scummy aiport. Come on uk sort yourself out.
- Security can be a right pain, particularly at terminal 1. Give yourself plenty of time. On the other hand, terminal 3 is usually problem free. The scanners seem to be hyper sensitive though.
- Johnny KoutiolasFebruary 18, 2020Unnecessarily lengthy security checks. Make sure you arrive well in advance and be prepared to separate all you stuff out of the luggage.
- Amaury JMay 4, 2017Probably the worst airport I've been at. Security is so strict for no reason. They inspect absolutely everything and give you a hard time for things that no other airport would say anything about.
- It’s small, pokey, old fashioned and slow. Other than that it’s pleasant enough!
- Andrew PackNovember 16, 2018Security is strict. Your bag will get pulled even if you have a tiny lip balm in your bag. Be sure to take out everything. My bag was even pulled for stick deodorant. 20 min wait to get it cleared
- For a major UK airport there's a striking dearth of quality food/drink options to help pass a long connection. Easily reachable from Manchester city center via metrolink (tram) or regional rail.
- John JonesOctober 14, 2014Tip - security checks are very thorough and take a long time. Make sure you get here early
- Haya AlsabahJanuary 19, 2013Go after bizza duty free and you will find more shops and cafes ! Dont like this design of the airport ! You should go through the duty free to reach your gate!
- This airport is literally falling apart. Nothing here works properly. Depressing, woefully understaffed and awful. It’s an embarrassment to the north of England. Fly from anywhere else if you can.
- Lisa StarbucksAugust 28, 2016I like the shops here. Looking for a nice pair of sunglasses from Ray Ban or make up articles from Mac or Bobbi Brown? You can have it all here!
- A miserable passenger experience. From broken lifts, escalators and leaks to security who change to rules day by day, if you can fly from another airport: do so
- Visit Runway Park & Viewing Area (free admission). Take bus 200 from Airport Bus terminal. It goes hourly on 16th minute, takes 8 minutes and costs £2,5 for return ticket.
- eDreamsMarch 29, 2012Want to get to city centre? Take the 24-hour bus service 43 leaving every 10 min by day and every 30 by night. It is the only route in Greater Manchester to operate on Christmas Day.
- There are both free (with time limit) and paid wifi available. There are trains and buses (coaches) available to take you pretty much anywhere, so you don't have to pay much for taxis.
- There are 2 power sockets by the massage chairs next to the amusement shop. To your left as you approach the main hall! Enjoy
- Wilhelm BrunnerSeptember 9, 2012Free access with your Diners Club card to escape and servisair lounges at Terminal 1. I checked out ESCAPE and it was okay. Free WIDI, Cookies and paninis are also free. Watch out - some food is for £
- Graham BirdMarch 26, 2014If you are cutting it close for your flight speak to the staff at security as the have a express lane you can use if you have under an hour for your flight (terminal 3)
- Jeffrey-Ryan B.October 21, 2013Many non-stop domestic flights and many international flights from outside the UK and a 1h 15m flight to London Heathrow daily several times a day
- If u ride a train to get to the airport, better come at least 1/2 an hour early coz its a long walk to get to Terminal 3 from the train stop
- AWFUL airport, feels like it was once a cupboard and got haphazardly converted
- Terminal 1 power points to charge your phone/plug in your laptop are by Voyager where the disabled seats are.
- JennersJanuary 8, 2019Security is extremely strict so prepare extra time because there will be delays.
- There are plug sockets in T1 next to the seats in the corridor to the toilets. Usually not as crowded as the rest of the terminal
- Security is a shambles. X-ray stops every second bag for manual search resulting in everyone waiting in a queue for their bag to be searched at a snails pace. 30 mins it took.
- Tom ParsonsSeptember 6, 2014If you go to giraffe, they do sourdough bread bacon rolls for 3.50 - not on the menu!
- PApril 26, 2014Allow proper time to check in T3 and to go through security. It's all very proper & tight compared to HK. This terminal is small & very busy especially AM times with high traffic.
- Best value food is the Boots meal deal. A triple chicken sandwich, blueberry/pistachio yoghourt bar and Green Machine Naked drink, all for £
- Alex CurielJune 4, 20193rd busiest airport in the UK, and the busiest outside of London. Plenty of destinations. Very clean and quite easy to go around.
- The new capital has a fine landing port, and is able to host some of the largest aether ships in the world. Her Majesty has her own terminal.
- MarekAugust 24, 2018Another UK airport where you are forced to wait in the lounge before they announce gates at last minute. With the lounge full of loud tourists and screaming kids this airport was terrible experience.
- Get your Boots meal deal for £3.79 (one main, one snack, one drink) before boarding. Much better than airplane food!
- Shyan TanJuly 9, 2016Haphazard airport. Confusing and always crowded. Restaurants always fill to the brim at departure lounges.
- Ritchy MarcelFebruary 7, 2018Warning: when passing security, they have put the metal things back in my bag. I had to wait 25 and 35 minutes before they could inspect my bag. I reported this to the airport. REDICULOUS!!!!
- Prepare to never have been more frustrated with airport security than ever before. What a load of utter shite. And I've been to enough airports to know.
- Wtf? You have to pay for a trolley? Come on MAN!
- Sadly very little. Obvious that no real money has been spent for ages. It looks tatty, gets patched up rather than updated. Arrived from AMS. From plane wherls doen almost 1 hour. Not good enough.
- andy taitNovember 12, 2018-Mean spirited airport management. Drop off fee of £3 at departures .£1 fee for a baggage trolley.Embarrassing to see overseas visitors arrive and struggle to get currency & change for a trolley .😡
