Disney Land of distilleries is an accurate description of this place. They represent the brand well more than bourbon in general. Must go if you like Makers like me.
If there is a heritage tour available, reserve a spot ahead of time and do it! It is led by a member of the Samuels family, and different from a standard distillerytour in the BourbonTrail.
The tour and tasting were outstanding. It was one of the best I have ever been on. The guide Ben was very knowledgeable and really like able. The gift shop was outstanding as well.
Nice setting on a nice day. Tour was good. Tasting was good but a bit rushed. Maker’s Mark really cares about their customers and products and it shows worth the stop. Nice drive in on rural roads.
The Samuels crew have nailed this. The heritage tour for Ambassadors is a best in class customer appreciation experience. You will learn why Maker's is Makers
Love the history of Maker's Mark. The wife of the owner had the ideas for the style of the bottle and the dipping of the bottle. Great tour and tasting with Roy Lee!
Awesome tour. Hospitality all around. Highly recommend going here. The road in is a bit hairy, but not too bad. Definitely budget a lot for the gift shop. Lots of things to buy.
Great tour, kid-friendly. (have a special place for them to sit during tasting). Picturesque. Distillery shuts down do a month in early summer. You can still do tour; stills are empty. Spotty cel svc.
We have travelled all over country, toured many distilleries and breweries. We were Disappointed that you need to sign up for an hour tour to get samples! Other then that, beautiful spot!
The idea of sticking your finger in the fermenting tank might sound gross at first, but make sure to try a couple of the tanks to see how the mash changes as it goes through fermentation.
Maker’s Mark is a small batch bourbonwhiskey that is distilled in Loretto, Kentucky by Beam Inc.. It is sold in distinctively squarish bottles, which are sealed with red wax. Read more
The tour is free, and the guides are knowledgeable about their product, and extremely friendly. Make sure to try the new Maker's 46, and dip a bottle while you're there!
If you're ever out in our neck of the woods, stop by the distillery to see your whiskey being made in person. There's nothing like it. In 2012, we'll stop mashing between May 23 and June 23 for maintenance, but we'll still conduct tours. Closed Sunday January and February.
