Well worth the trip. Living Maori village and geothermal area. Nice performance of traditional dances and sons including haka. Much cheaper than the other village nearby.
Beautifully lake. Great view. The water quality is not as good as other famous lakes.

Great "must see" spot on the North island of New Zealand. Parking can be challenging. Try to park at the lot closest to the cove - it's still a good 45 minute moderate walk from the lot to the cove.
First check the tides and plan to arrive 2hrs either side of low tide if the tide is really low. Take your own spade to dig deeper and faster to claim your spot and create your own private spa.

Do NOT forget sunscreen. Bit crowded with tourists, try to go during the week: Rangitoto view is stunning. I found a perfect hidden bench on the way up, so keep your eyes open!
Built in 1911, this is both administrative and cultural center. The Great Hall (concert room) inside is a replica of Neues Gewandhaus, destroyed in Allied bombing in Leipzig during WWII.
Marvel Grill has awesome meals - lamb was gorgeous. Staff tried to be attentive but felt they were fumbling a bit, teething problems. Dessert was well worth it.
Eels, fish, birds a plenty & great paths to walk or ride. Secret seats and curious walks can be found too.
