Day travelcard for Gatwick Airport + zones 1-6. It might be cheaper than a direct ticket to your destination, and you can use it the whole day on tube, train and buses! Buy one also for return!
As I could note, this airport has the cheapest airlines traveling around the world, we come from Mexico and the price was really good. The airport is so well organised, but in my opinion need more ads
There is a free shuttle that connects the north and south terminal, also a terminal that goes to Victoria station. Plenty of places to have a snack at the airport.
They have Gatwick Express. Gatwick Express is the fastest rail link between the airport and central London. Non-stop trains run to and from London Victoria every 15 minutes and take 30 minutes.
Gatwick has free shower facilities for all. The shower is located near the Giraffe restaurant and Beehive pub, use the inter phone to get security to unlock it for you. Bring your own towel and soap
Don't sleep in the terminal! Hampton by Hilton is a brand new hotel opened only 2 months ago, has a tunnel connection to the north terminal and offers a standard queen room for £79 with breakfast.
Small enough that it’s easy to get around and catch your next flight, but big enough to have plenty of restaurants and amenities. Tons of places to eat, drink, or shop once you get through security.
DO NOT take Gatwick Express. There is a Thameslink service that takes the SAME time to get into London, and costs half the price of the Gatwick Express.
Moving from the South to the North terminal is easy and fast by shuttle. There is a train comes from London as well. Is it's cheaper than getting a taxi an the same time costing
Fill up your water bottles for free from the “fountains” either right after security or outside the toilets on the first floor above Boots in the North Terminal
Easy direct Thameslink train ride from LondonBridge (2 stops) or London St Pancras (overnight 5 stops). For around £7.80 each way when booked in advance or £5.40 each with Two Together Railcard.
Security at LGW is always quick and efficient. Well thought layout, friendly and knowledgable stuff. Other Londonairports should take some inspirations, from here!
Train ticket queue can be crazy long... Save time by buying tickets on thetrainline app, then picking up from collection machine that has much shorter queue. Or top up your oyster before you go
Some of the best English breakfasts you can get at an airport! Head up to the second floor to grab a seat at any of the places offering up a good English breakie!
Gate 110 (often used by Emirates) is a very long walk. I recommend making your way there at your earliest opportunity. Here you can find toilets, a Pret A Manger and a mini duty free
Your passport will be more helpful than your ID to reach quickly the exit thanks to the ePassport gates. Big airport, but smartly structured and fast service at the security control area!
Veeery crowdy, but also lot of facilities. Cleanbathrooms. Use easybus to go from/to the city or if train is your option use Southern - cheaper than Gatwick express and just slightly longer
Go up to the weatherspoons, south terminal for a window view and watch the world rush by. Make sure you ask whether your arrival is coming in from the south/north terminal at the information point! ;)
Anything and everything is available here... there are the North and South terminals here connected by a shuttle train which is super convenient and easy to find... fun terminal with loads of shops
You don’t need the Gatwick Express to get into the City. A local train is cheaper and might even be more direct depending on where you’re going - inquire with staff.
Solid vegan food options here. Best out of all the Londonairports. Always happy to fly out of this airport because I know I will be able to get a decent meal in before my flight.
I like how the train station is just near the airport. You can get here in no time. Also, I liked the architectural design of the airport. There were no issues with the checkpoint process.
No need to use “Gatwick express”. With a few exceptions, any train from Waterloo station goes through Gatwick airport for the same time and half the price
Very Good airport but you need to book a car before coming to this Gatwick because its far away from central London 60km and you need to walk a lot its a huge one✈️
There is a free shuttle that connects the north and south terminal, also a terminal that goes to Victoria station. Plenty of places to have a snack at the airport.
Harrods has a 20% discount in store these days if you buy for more than £100. If you add it to VAT that's 40% on high street prices. Stock up on Paul Smith and Hackett for men.
Both North and South terminals equally good with usual shops and eateries. Need breakfast, ditch spoons and head to Nando’s for a cheeky eat from their breakfast menu.
Easily reachable from London Victoria via Gatwick Express or also via London overground trains. South terminal has plenty of restaurants and cafés to pass the time (3 hours in my case)
They transformed this airport into one of the best I have seen in Europe. Fast, efficient, friendly. Don't take Gatwick express. Save 5£ and be there at almost same time with Southern services.
International terminal, hectic with all the stores leading to the terminal. Get here early especially if you don’t know if you are on standby and find out at the check in desk.
They make it so easy for the customer to go through security. The duty free area is huge w. a great selection of restaurants! They need to improve the train tickets area though, it's always very busy!
While airports around the world provide comfy seats, free drinking water and baggage weighing facilities, the UK will of course charge you £1 to weigh your suitcase.
One of many international airports easily assessable from central London. 30mins on the Gatwick Express (train) from Victoria. There're a few shops and places to eat and entertain... Bon voyage! ✈
On your flight home make your seat neighbour a pleasure and put some free perfume on from the duty free shop. Each is better than the smell of sweat! =] #cheers
Relatively less people compared to Heathrow. EasyJet check in area is huge and staff is super helpful. Less rush on the tax free counter also compared to Heathrow.
You have so much to choose from when it comes to restaurants. They have lots of water fountains so don't bother paying for water , bring your own bottle to fill.
