On 11/4/2000, the Wildcats upset Michigan here in an EPIC shootout, 54-51. After the game, Northwestern students tried to tear down a goalpost … and epically failed.
Wrigley’s outfield shrubbery is a combo of Boston Ivy & Japanese Bittersweet. Reach in, and you might find a “Save Ferris” sticker, a pair of Harry Caray’s glasses & Andre Dawson’s Hawk feathers.
On the east side, you’ll be greeted by MJ’s statue. But to say hello to Blackhawk legends such as Bobby Hull and Stan Mikita, go to the north side, where the old Chicago Stadium used to be.
Opened in 2000, it was rechristened in 2006 in memory of former Athletic Director Gene Sullivan. The gym was renamed in memory of the late Frank McGrath, longtime men’s assistant basketball coach.
