Incredible unusual Thai variations. Pomelo salad, the namesake soup with fried sweet potatoes and. Tower of noodles and a very dramatic red snapper with bitter melon soup -- all great.
Kao Soy noodles delicious, asked for shrimp vs chicken; totally worked. Calamari super tender. Pad Thai next time, looked great. Def best Thai in Bklyn. Cash only.
My favorite new place to eat in Red Hook. Try the Kao Soy, a sort of noodle curry stew with chicken legs that just fall off the bone. Also the sausage is spicy and delicious.
The Kao Soy dish is excellent, It takes me to Chiang Mai. Authentic, great Thai food no long lines like other Thai restaurants in the neighbourhood. This place gets my whole hearted endorsement.
Pla pad cha spicy fish with herbs and LOTS of chilies may have been the spiciest dish I've ever had, and I've done the phaal curry challenge. Intense! As everyone says, the food here is on point.
Massaman curry is absurdly good. I was in Chiang Mai two months ago and the food here brought me back to the flavors of Thailand i experienced during my backpacking trip. gotta check this place out
everything was delicious, beautifully prepared, and seriously spicy. had and loved the papaya salad, pad kee mow, crispy shrimp rolls, and the Chinese sausage, broccoli and sticky rice dish.
NYT rec (2/15): "Nam prik ong; krabong hua plee; yum pla ka tak; pla khoong; yum som o; khao soy; sai oua; kang hung le; steak jim jaew; kha nom jean kiew wan khoong ma prao on; tapioca-coconut soup."
Best For: Noodle soup aficionadosTrue to the restaurant’s name, the must-order item here is kao soy, the fragrant, coconut-scented curry native to Chiang Mai. Thai native Kanlaya Supachana doles out
The pad thai with chicken (I added shrimp) was absolutely exquisite. Perfectly seasoned and the presentation was amazing. Although this is waaaaaay out of my way, I'll be back.
Get the kao soy at this eponymous restaurant. And anything else that strikes your fancy — everything is fantastic. You'll probably get a wait. Luckily there's several bars right nearby.
The namesake curry noodles are amazing. Skip the som tum, it's a let down. Thought the puff, like a Thai samosa, was pretty good too! Take out IS available!
Something's changed :( bad music, surly service. Empty @7pm..wouldn't let us sit at a table of our choice; made us sit in the front where the sun was overwhelming. Rushed us.Not sure I'll be back!
