Kars Alfrink: Deep fried polenta cubes are just the thing to munch on while wandering the old town of Bari. Salty, greasy, tasty. (You'll need a drink and a nap after.)

Kars Alfrink: OMG best lunch of my Puglia trip. The eponymous aunts serve deceptively simple but oh so flavorsome food in their living room restaurant. Get the antipasti and the lamb. You'll die.
Kars Alfrink: Excellent place to sample traditional dishes in a cozy yet slightly elegant setting. Antipasti della casa and traditional primi (mine was a pasta with strong ricotta) were all incredibly tasty.
Kars Alfrink: Great for a late night light meal and some drinks. They have lots of dishes from the grill I could not resist ordering the horse meat. It was very tasty.
Kars Alfrink: If you're lucky you'll visit when it's not too crowded and the person behind the counter will indulge you tasting a good portion of all of their flavors of which there are many.
Kars Alfrink: Perfect spot for a long lunch. We went for antipasti della casa, primi (orecchiette, spaghetti al cozze) and dolce. All of dishes were very tasty and – importantly – of sensible sizes.
Kars Alfrink: Lovely local vibe, nice wines by the glass and platters of cold cuts and cheeses. Perfect for an aperitivo. Locals seem to go for a focaccia or panino for a light dinner.
Kars Alfrink: The baristi make for a commanding presence behind their old style high up bar. Espresso is prepared expertly and cookies that we ordered alongside were delish.
Kars Alfrink: Legit spot for local dishes. I recommend going for a big lunch here. Particularly their primi are quite spectacular. We had a pasta with chickpeas and chilis. It was crazy tasty.

Kars Alfrink: The kind of restaurant your grandma would like but you secretly do too. Simple, classic Italian dishes. Big place, nice view, service was a bit stretched. Good for lunch.
