These are my favorite food and drink places in Manhattan - in no particular order.
1. El Parador
Jonathan Gottfried: Everything I've eaten here has been amazing - Paella, Mole, tacos, guacamole - delicious!
2. Xi'an Famous Foods
Jonathan Gottfried: Unique hand-pulled noodles, I usually get the Concubine Chicken Noodles.
3. Num Pang Sandwich Shop
Jonathan Gottfried: The coconut tiger shrimp sandwich here is my favorite sandwich in the city...try it with a corn on the cob and blood orange lemonade.
4. Calexico Cart
Jonathan Gottfried: Carne Asada Burrito with Guacamole and Crack Sauce - best burrito in the city. I have no idea what is in the crack sauce though...
5. Sakagura
Jonathan Gottfried: Great sushi and classy location (though very expensive)
6. Bianca
Jonathan Gottfried: Authentic, cheap, cozy Italian restaurant.
7. Victory Garden
Jonathan Gottfried: Goat's milk soft serve? Absolutely amazing. I love the chocolate-caramel swirl
8. Dhaba
Jonathan Gottfried: Good Indian food - their Tandoori chicken is great.
9. Turntable Chicken Jazz
Jonathan Gottfried: Best fried chicken in the city - that is all that needs to be said.
10. L.A. Burdick Chocolate
Jonathan Gottfried: I love the Granada hot chocolate, but really all of the varieties are pretty ridiculous.
11. Pure Thai Cookhouse
Jonathan Gottfried: Great Thai soup and noodles - tiny place but pretty quick turnover.
12. Café Grumpy
Jonathan Gottfried: Quiet, classy cafe. No laptops allowed but they have great tea and coffee.
13. Fried Dumpling
Jonathan Gottfried: $1 for 6 pork dumplings - need I say more?
14. Nom Wah Tea Parlor
Jonathan Gottfried: Best Shumai I have had, though very slow service here.
15. ilili Restaurant
Jonathan Gottfried: High-class (and pretty expensive) middle eastern food. Their lunch special is quite good though.
16. Nyonya
Jonathan Gottfried: Best Malaysian food I've found in the city, but terrible service.
17. Caracas Arepa Bar
Jonathan Gottfried: Arepas to-die-for... Gotta try them all.
18. Ess-a-Bagel
Jonathan Gottfried: This is my favorite bagel in New York, which is saying a lot.
19. Onya Japanese Noodle
Jonathan Gottfried: Top-notch Udon, great for lunch.
20. Cipriani Le Specialita
Jonathan Gottfried: Really nice lunch specials, though a bit pricey. But really, what I come here for is the chocolate chip cookies.
21. Saigon Shack
Jonathan Gottfried: Very tasty pho and pretty cheap.
22. Ukrainian East Village Restaurant
Jonathan Gottfried: This is where I go for blintzes and pierogies.
23. Yonah Schimmel Knish Bakery
Jonathan Gottfried: The only knishes you need to eat in NYC.
24. Faicco's Italian Specialties
Jonathan Gottfried: Great sandwiches, lots and lots of meat...
25. Emack & Bolio's SoHo
Jonathan Gottfried: This is a great Ice Cream store with very friendly staff - I actually prefer it to Ben & Jerry's.
26. Shanghai 21
