Great neighbourhood bar with a sweet cocktail menu and surprisingly great food as well. Great DJs on a Saturday night and a good crowd. Already one of the best places to drink in Islington.
The rib eye steak with kimchihollandaise is absolutely amazing. And the frites with pulled pork, kimchi, and cheese make a perfect accompaniment. This is my new favourite restaurant in Islington.
The wine list is well-priced and the beer is locally sourced. The hot dog stand? That’s the DJbooth so hit it at the weekends to flex your moves. http://barchick.com/find-a-bar/london/john-salt
Dessert was yummy as we're the cocktails. Leeks with truffle vinegarette was fantastic. Had mussels for dinner which were also good. The side of chips I got was not tasty.
Rankin brings a BBQ influenced twist to the Sunday roast and I welcome it with open arms. Read our full review on Scoff London: http://scofflondon.com/restaurants/john-salt-review-n1/
This place had amazing food (and still does today) but they fired the kitchen; new staff start in the new year. I can't imagine why. The team here were putting it on the map with knockout reviews.
Great cocktails, amazing starters, superb selection of beers but... very disappointing mains. Pop in for a pint and nibbles but go somewhere else for a dinner.
If this was a great restaurant that was long ago! My visit was too late after Ben Spalding and even Neil Rankin left the place. Food average, bar and drinks seem more interesting. Full review... Read more
Bitterly disappointing. Too much butter in bland potted shrimp, soggy frites, kimchi more like sauerkraut, and baconpanna cotta with awful artificial taste. Just don't bother.
