I hiked this trail Seven years ago and it was raining which amplified the smell of mule doo. We went only a mile down and went back up. Yesterday we road mules down and it was much more enjoyable!!!
There is a resthouse 1.5 miles and 3 miles into the trail for those that are looking for a smaller, day hike. March and April are the best months to visit in the spring before it gets too hot.

A true 1950s theater, Loft Cinema has great food and drinks, and an always solid mix of films. It operates as a non-profit and volunteers run the production. Plus, its a great place to beat the heat!

Simply yummy. Thai quinoa bowl with salmon is my new fav thing to eat! Everything we had was perfect- tofu, asparagus, cauliflower, creamed corn quinoa, Mac n cheese, avocado hummus. Service is super.
Seasonal menu, with lots of organic, local produce - if you have allergies or a special diet (gluten-free) this is a great place to get a delicious meal!

The Big Wac is the successor to the famous Green Burger, and holy crap is it amazing. Fill your cheeks to the brim with this incredibly delicious all vegan burger. Try to hold back the tears.

This is a locally owned restaurant (owner also owns Half Moon Grill) that sources most of it's food locally as well (i.e. meats are from Schreiner's, bagels are from Chompie's, etc.)
What can I say, haven't had anything bad yet. Amazing vegan food that even non vegans would enjoy. The Hawaiian burger is fantastic, great homemade patty. Spicy cha cha is great! Great teas too.
A rare find in phoenix! If you want a taste of nyc like marketplace/cafe then this is a must! You can get anything from coffee, tea, pastries, sandwiches, to healthy selection of groceries! Great vibe
Delicious and flavor packed food. Great vegetarian options, and filled with varied and creative ingredients. Alcoholic drinks also available and patio dining. Definitely worth a visit
