In 1567, Mary Queen of Scots was imprisoned at Lochleven after surrendering to her nobles at Carberry Hill. She suffered a miscarriage and was forced to abdicate, but escaped ten months later.

Gorgeous views from top of the castle. Well worth the entrance fee. Loads of steep steps so not good for the unfirm or unfit. Walk round the town wall aswell , some amazing sites :-)
