The spicy ramen is amazing. Be prepared to wait to be seated. Doesnt allow for reservations and is packed. You can put your name on the list and they will call you which allows you to do stuff around.
Ohh hot savory brothy goodness!! My favorite traditional ramen place in the city. Broth is amazing with perfectly chewy noodles. Get the Akamura Modern w/ nitamago & takana and Pork bunappetizer.
Akamaru Ramen with their special egg was awesome. One of the best authenticramen restaurants in Japan now in other countries. I also like their tea and bean sproutsappetizer free on the table.
The Akamaru Modern ramen is made with Tonkatsupork broth and thin, wavy noodles. The broth is velvety, the noodles springy, and it's served with a secret, funky umami dama miso paste. Read more
Did you know that one little pork bun has over 420 calories and 25 grams of saturated fat? Pro-tip: try the equally delicious Hamachi Goma-Shoyu sashimi instead. Your body will totally thank you. Read more
Obvi pork buns. The ramen def lives up to the hype. Go by yourself! You'll get seated so much faster, and you should be eating the ramen quickly anyway, so you won't even have time for conversation.
The pork buns here are fantastic! There are often seasonal ramen flavors that are pretty cool. My go to is the Akamaru Modern. Good happy hour deals if you find yourself waiting at the bar.
Yes, it's the crowd favorite & it's really good. Gotta give some love to the others first, but if you're a patient group or a hungry single eater you're in good shape to get a coveted bowl of Ippudo!
Amazing pork or chicken buns. Deliciously simple fresh Japanese cucumber app. I could eat both every day. You're treated with kindness and respect every time. No reservations so be prepared to wait.
Shishito peppers, pork buns, Karakamen spicy ramen. I have tried almost every item on the menu, these make me happy every time. My favorite ramen in the city (so far)!
give ur name/# to hostess, go nearby to get a drink, buzztable app then tells u when u should come back. Order pork buns, Kirindraft, any ramen. Add kakuni and spicy paste. Rub tummy!
Try the Modern Ramen. It’s a great twist on a classic. This is a top ramen spot that’s not to miss. Plus, they hand pull their noodles and they’re fantastic
somehow not quite my style--it felt like there was a certain thinness of flavor to the noodles. but you get to hear a white guy shout Japanese every time there's a new customer; pork buns delicious.
This Japanese ramen chain is always packed with New Yorkers and Nippon natives who queue up (often for hours) for the simple pleasure of a bowl of noodles like the Shigemi Kawahara or Akamaru. Read more
The spicy ramen here is overwhelming, not in a good way. I recommend getting the pork bun and eel over rice. Totto Ramen has the best spicy ramen in NYC - it's a longer wait, but worth it.
One of the top 5 Ramen spots in the city. You will wait 1-2hrs during the evening dinner rush. But it'll be absolutely worth it. Make sure to try the pork buns, too.
Best Ramen in NYC the closest you can get to Tokyo without traveling 18 hours on a plane get the pork buns and spicy ramen with miso and pork and chicken. You will be in hog heaven.
Was at one of the Tokyo locations before getting in here given the popularity. Jade gingericed tea and an original tonkatsu FTW. Well, for lunch at any rate.
Hirata Buns are incredibly fluffy and the pork has great texture and flavor. Akamaru Modern with poached egg is the go-to but the other ramens are almost just as good.
Chickenbaobuns are a must but don’t eat too many so you can eat as much of your huge ramen bowl as possible. Put your name in @ 5 you’ll still have to wait 2 hours but u can leave and they’ll call u
Classic and all-time favorite ramen spot since I moved to NYC 10 years ago. Come early if you want to be seated within an hour. Eat/drink at the bar as you wait.
It really is worth the hype. Definitely get pork and vegbuns. For an extra $2 they will give you more noodles if you have broth left! A++ service. Also a big space that's good for larger groups.
This bun is one of the top three best things I have ever had. The eggplant and eringi mushrooms are fried until super crispy and tossed in Ippudo's house spicybuns sauce Read more
The handmade noodles really makes this place special. They have really good broth and lovely meet. Also... They usually have a wait time of 30-45 minutes. Be prepared.
Loved the "modern" ramen. If you get the regular, make sure to add the suggested pulled pork; it gives the ramen its flavor. Pork buns were inconsistent - one great, the other dry.
My first ramen experience & I ordered Amakura per everyone's raving reviews. It was great, but would have to say if you like spicy food go with Karakaramen on the menu. Also, pork buns a must!
Akamaru is the best and most popular ramen. Veggiebuns are absolutely delicious and I prefer them over pork buns. Ika Isobe (fried squid) and Samurai ribs are my favorite appetizers.
I won't be joining the Ippudo cult, but do concede that the pork in my bowl of ramen was the best I've had yet, and the pork buns were better than Momofuku Ssam's. Come alone to avoid waiting forever.
The pork buns are amazing. As is the Akamaru Modern ramen. NOTE: definitely go on an empty stomach and be prepared to consume all that you order. They don't allow you to take your food to go.
Try the delicious Shiromaru Hakata classic ramen with Shigureni. It's so good, you're going to ask for Kae-dama (more noodles)! Try the lychee martini too:)
I've never been here, any day or time, when there hasn't been a 1-2 hour wait. But it's worth it. Go round the corner to central bar and wait it out. Buns, shishito peppers, sake and ramen. Nuff said
Try the tuna tartar as appetizer and green teacrème brûlée as dessert! Can't go wrong with the ramen dishes as main. I did like the vegetarian one a lot.
Everything is fantastic! Very busy place. Expect a wait. Put your name down and go explore the area. They will text you. It is worth the wait! Trust me. Enjoy!
2nd favorite NYC ramen spot. This place has better pork buns than Totto, but Totto's ramen is better. The spicyTonkatsu ramen is pretty good; expect thin noodles.
Amazing spicykarakaramen! Great service and ambiance. One drawback is that they do not allow to go service. Tip: you can get in almost immediately if you're dining solo.
