Best view of the city, right outside their canal doors.
Ask at the ticket counter for a "monthly gallery search" packet. Find the hidden objects and your kids win a very cool prize at the end! (July's is a genuine mastodont bone!)

If you're from out of town, the information desk by the garage entrance has maps to the city and the volunteers can tell you all the best places to go.

Catrina SmytheJune 20, 2017Skip WWI exhibit. Went explicitly for Father's Day, it's only a few uniforms scattered about. Park system=tech issue. Chased down for $, had just paid (only 1 other family there-forgot already??)
- At the Canal Cafe, the grill guy will cook you almost anything you ask for. And, if you don't see "chicken velvet soup", you can request it anyway. Read more
- Be sure to check out the 92 County Walk around the outside of the museum. Sculptures and artwork to represent each county are so fun and interesting!
The cafe really isn't bad, the food is decent and fair priced. You can sit outside on a nice day, overlooking the canal.
- Chicken Velvet soup is all you need to know. If you don't, you've been warned.
Not at all impressed with new cafe. While the food is delicious, it is no longer cost effective for a family. It will no longer be our go to place. :(
