André Zhang: Canóvanas is known as "La Cuna de los Indios" (Indian cradle) & "La Ciudad de las Carreras" (race horse town) because of its racetrack call "El Comandante". Juan R. Calderón founded Canóvanas in 1909.
André Zhang: Carolina is known as "La Tierra de Gigantes" , in honor of one of its inhabitants: Don Felipe Birriel, who was the tallest man in Puerto Rican history, with an unconfirmed of 7' 11".
