Just checked in here yesterday and we got the penn5000 room it's new and super clean the beds are super comfy and the bathroom nice ... everybody we met from the staff so far is very friendly ..
Good value NYC Hotel. Plenty of scare mongering reviews here, if you want a modern pristine Hotel Room, book into the Trump. One day they'll refurb this hotel and you won't be able to afford it.
Pennsylvania 6-5000! The location is amazing, of course, but you have got to love the history in this place. If you are a picky pants and want to stay somewhere fancy, look elsewhere.
People exaggerate so much! You get what you pay for. Cheapest place in Manhattan, perfect location! My second time here and I would come again! Have a cheesecake at Lindy's!
It's all right. But There's no fridge. Instead of this I can not close the window in proper way! It's is a 3cm hole! -10 C outside! Thank you, Penn! You solved the problem of food-keeping, Room 1405A
Great location, some rooms are better than the other. Old a/c. Bathroom is ok! Again, the great location right in front of madison square garden makes this hotel perfect!
Some rooms are nice, others are complete slums. I am happy to stat in a cheap slum when I know it's a cheap slum, the problem is with the advertising bait and switch of the rooms vs website pics.
Nice view of the Empire State Bldg. from our room. Directly across from Madison Square Garden & Penn Station. Big room with not much furniture. Closet had no hangers for shirts or coats.
Doesn't get better than staying across the street from Penn station. I'm not picky with my overnight stays and this place is tidy and tends to have great deals for rooms on discount websites.
Very old and grimey hotel with few amenities, but good nightly rate and very convenient location. Many sites within walking distance, and the subway and train are across the street.
I stayed here after losing power post Hurricane Sandy. I booked through bringfido.com. Get the Penn 5000 club room. You get a fridge and 1 Mbps internet and continental breakfast.
Centrally located across the street from Madison Square Garden, I got a reasonable room rate less than $200 a day without a reservation. It is the centrally located and the concierge is knowledgeable Read more
Their phone number is still "PEnnsylvania 6-5000" just throw a (212) in front and when you call the message plays the song, it's pretty cool.. Had a few jobs here when i was in Paramedic School @ St.
I agree with all. New tip: the gym is on mysterious 19th floor. Get off at 18, take sketchy stairs. Then find one of the crappiest gyms. The elliptical must be older than me!
This is the perfect hotel for undercover moves among spoiled tourists from the Midwest. Get a room in the back of the building above the tenth floor. Quiet!
In 1929, Mexican revolutionaries holed up here. In case of spies, they blasted “serenades and nocturnes played by a stringed trio” over a “battery of radios.” Read more
Great location! Bad staff! Me being in crutches this trip, I asked 4 room close to the elevators. Woman @ desk says "my job is to check you in, check you out, and take your $!" (still have 2 walk far)
Very busy lobby. You pay $40 upfront if you want to check in earlier than 3:00PM. I feel it's a highway robbery for tourists esp if you travelled more than 12hrs and get here.
The rooms are SO small, and I agree with the other tips... Definitely don't let the beautiful lobby and doorman fool you, it's FAR from a 5 star hotel.
What an awful hotel. Got checked into wrong room, which was a prison cell, worn out springs. Asked for change to king that I booked, took them 2 hours and they gave me the key to someone else's room.
The official hotel of the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. Definitely the "it" place to see the WHOSE WHO of Dogdom during the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show Feb. 13 & 14th.
New Yorkers know to Tell tourists to avoid this hotel. Even the seminars that are here are usually shady. Anyway why would you want to stay in midtown?
The hotel is good for just having a place to stay. There is no wi-fi and the Internet lounge ducks. It's expensive and the network is very slow so it's a scam job to take your money.
Terribely dirt room. Someone left Snicker chocolate packet and houskeeping didnt take it since i arrived this hotel. I really dont know what to say. Hotel lobby is like a shoping mall. ! Shit !
Desk staff weren't the friendliest, but room was clean enough -- nothing fancy, but acceptable for less than $200 a night, and great location. You could pay similar for hostel w/shared bath on UWS.
Nothing good here, 1:45hrs to check in, then 1hr line to leave bag at end. This is the most horrible, dirty and rude hotel I’ve ever had the pleasure off. You couldn’t pay ME enough to come back here
They confused everything so we (3 girls) lived in 20-meters room, I even slept on a camp-bed though I paid the full price. We didn't have any free part of the floor to step on, we walked on the beds.
Room they gave us was bad. It was advertised as newly renovated thru Booking.com but they said this was what we paid for. Carpet needs change. Need more lighting inside room. Upkeep needs improvement
If you know what you're getting into can be a great deal for midtown. Exp in 5000 club have had good luck getting a clean working room. Not a NYC 400/night hotel by any means.
Great location, fair hotel considering the price. It opened its doors in the early 1900, and it shows it. In desperate need of refurbishing. But then Im sure they'll bump the price
Nothing!. This place is super old, the carpets are stained, is dusty, the bed is old and scary and they havent cleaned the windows in centuries. Dont stay here.
