- Behrad EatsJuly 30, 2013Mondays are All You Can Eat brisket, pork spare ribs, market chicken & sides. I recommend the mac & cheese, sweet potato bourbon mash & corn pudding. Make sure to go there hungry, it's a lot of food!
- Lindsay D.September 20, 2018The BBQ chicken quarters are amazing! So tender! Don't miss Happy Hour - the bar tenders are entertaining, the drinks are great and the salsa has a smokey twist that leaves you craving more!
- GlenJanuary 30, 2013Monday nights are All-you-can-eat for $20. Good deal b/c you'll probably order that much meat/sides anyways. It includes brisket, chicken, pork ribs and all sides. Pair it with a pitcher of Shiner!
- Caleb HaysJune 25, 2015Finally! A place that serves BBQ in a style not from the Carolinas! Pure Texas BBQ—smoky, wet, and juicy. And karaoke downstairs on Wednesdays with a live band if you're musically inclined.
- Jennifer DayJune 7, 2013Fantastic BBQ! We got the Two Step combo and it fed our family of four. I highly recommend this place! Get Mac and cheese w/ a side of chili to mix in! Sweet potato bread pudding is divine!!
- EaterOctober 4, 2011Try the moist brisket, the sausages imported from Kreuz Market or any variety of sides. Most nights of the week bring live music and pitchers of Shiner are always $20. [Eater 38 Member]
- Matt BoggsAugust 12, 2020I love this place. A great spot after a Sunday at a museum nearby. I do warn you though a pitcher of margarita and a delicious meal here will put you in a food coma for the rest of the day.
- Aaron SmithMay 10, 2015Very good! The potato salad is a must! Chicken was average, BBQ Ribs were great, Mac and Cheese was average. Skip the sweet potato pudding. A bit dry. Cookies are great. Great atmosphere. Family.
- VEEJune 22, 2014SO good ! 1st time here , great service & great food ! Fresh squeezed lemonade was EVERYTHING ! Mac & Cheese was perfection along with the campfire baked beans !
- Very good barbecue (though pricey). Best part of Hill Country is the downstairs concerts. You can grab a drink and enjoy some really great music.
- Julie KMay 14, 2018So many good tastes- it’s like a party in your mouth! We really liked the pulled pork, lean brisket, mac n cheese and sweet potato mash. Highly recommend
- MK McKenzieJanuary 12, 2015Definitely Texas-style BBQ - moist brisket, Mac n cheese, and collards are all amazing. Great venue for live music downstairs - thank goodness for the coat check.
- ZachMarch 11, 2012Food is amazing. I had the mac and cheese as a side with chili right on top of it. Also, live karaoke with the band is the greatest idea I have ever heard of. You need to try it. I love this place
- Go on Mondays for the all you can eat deal. The brisket (moist) is the thing to get but also love the ribs; the coleslaw is great too.
- Scott LApril 17, 2017Great smoked meats and fresh home style sides. Easy to share portions so bring a friend and try more sides.
- John BJanuary 8, 2017Been there many times, have not tasted one items which wasn't absolutely amazing. Friendly and patient staff, and great sweet tea!
- Amanda ThomasOctober 18, 2015The brisket, the ribs, sausage, chicken, sweet potato mash, mac and cheese. All of its good, the service, Mason jars of soda, the ambience, its awesome.
- Jonathan SullivanSeptember 1, 2018The brisket was mouthwatering and flavorful with a great consistency. Also enjoyed the collard greens, coleslaw and mashed sweet potatoes.
- Get the platter(s) and a margarita pitcher. Great brisket and pulled pork. Also don't forget the sides...the sweet potato mash and green beans are killer
- The moist brisket is incredible, there are great margarita pitchers, shiner on tap, $3 PBRs, karaoke downstairs on Wednesdays and old school country on Thursdays. Perfection. Avoid the potato salad.
- I love all the food at HC (never had a bad experience). However, try to avoid a 2-top if you are able. The smaller table can be constraining while you're trying to get your eat on.
- M BFebruary 4, 2018The sausage is great, the sauces are definitely Texan, however I dont think I’ve run in to a butter with orange in it for the corn muffins. A nice combination!
- JasonJanuary 19, 2016The moist brisket wasn't as moist as I expected it to be. The prime rib was a pleasant surprise. Show up early as the short rib seems to sell out quick.
- MartinJanuary 5, 2014The pit smoked wings and rib tips are excellent! Both are only on the bar menu though. Also try the Mac n cheese and moist brisket!
- HotDog TheRapperAugust 19, 2011After a week in DC I stumbled upon this place because the Indian joint I wanted to visit had a wait. And I am glad. Total surprise. Sampled everything. All of it was excellent.
- Laura B.September 30, 2011All the meats are good here, but the brisket is awesome. My new favorite BBQ spot! I also love the mac & cheese and cole slaw. Monday nights are all u can eat! #winning
- DavidMay 3, 2015Have The Pitmaster menu that has a little bit of everything, taste it and go for a second round :-) but everything was great!
- The "Hill" has to one of the best BBQ I have ever had. And I have been to Tenn. and TX. You will not go wrong with this place. It easily competes with other well named BBQ restaurants.
- Brittney PotterMay 26, 2012Im a Texan visiting DC! And I feel like I am right back home! Brisket amazing and no need for dessert just get the cornbread and butter!
- Julie BonkJune 4, 2012The moist brisket is thick and juicy, no knife required to cut it down. The ribs and chicken are so-so. The cornbread is soft and sweet--get it! I recommend moist brisket, beans and cornbread.
- Ashley ParkerJune 1, 2018The variety of meat options and sides. Service was excellent with our server Kendra! Will come again.
- The market chicken is delicious! Juicy and tender with an amazing sauce/rub on the skin. Don't forget the mac and cheese!
- Travis InceSeptember 1, 2013Their "unique" style of service is a poorly-executed attempt at originality. Make sure you know what you want before you go the the marketplace and get barked at by a-holes. Food is good though.
- tammy r.June 13, 2013Oh my god. SO GOOD. Beef ribs a bit dry on outside, but succulent and tasty overall. And the cake. THE CAKE.
- Lean, wet, or burnt ends Brisket - all good. Corn bread, coleslaw and Mac and cheese darn good too.
- Ashley ShumwayNovember 17, 2013Get the ribs and macaroni and cheese. It is a very messy meal... fun for a first date if you're the adventurous/ non-embarrased type. #mco435
- Dean HutchinsSeptember 30, 2016This is the second time I have come here for take-out. Both times everything was great EXCEPT the chicken which was undercooked to the point of being bloody.
- Paige RebeccaMay 26, 2014Authentic? No. Pretty decent? Yes. Get the moist brisket. Pinto beans, collards, mac and cheese are also decent.
- The service is pretty terrible here when things get busy, but it's a great little piece of home if you're from Texas. Oh, and check out their live music nights!
- Vanja NikiforovMarch 31, 2016Great unbelievable amazing meat and atmosphere of American country. Check for two 39.8 USD
- Go with the brisket (moist over lean) and get the corn pudding or mac and cheese. Skip the cornbread, it was dry. Awesome bar scene with live band karaoke.
- Moist brisket is the standout, hands down. Sausage and chicken are good, ribs just ok. Specials change daily, usually excellent.
- Roger SchonfeldAugust 23, 2014Cafeteria style and the better for it. Load up some burnt ends and sit at the car and drink some beer and bourbon.
- Tiffany BucknorSeptember 20, 2018The brisket and macaroni and cheese were to die for!!! However, the collard greens were a major disappointment 😔
- The menu says the red velvet cake feeds two. Really it's so big you could feed four people with a slice. So get it to share. It's delicious.
- Will GattenbyJuly 28, 2011Come on Wednesday for the live band karaoke. Band is awesome, atmosphere is great, worth every penny!
