- Drunken HistoryAugust 22, 2012Step "down" into a bar that has more historical items than some museums, sit at the table Jack London wrote literary legend "Call of the Wild" and do it all while enjoying a cold beer or a cocktail.
- Alex TenetteSeptember 20, 2013Nice little dive bar with some history. Very friendly bartenders and the bar table is very unique. Great spot for warm days, just get your beer and hangout outside.
- SFGate ManagerJuly 16, 2012This place has a back-to-the-past atmosphere where you can order a packaged snack and enjoy a Bloody Mary made with the house mix and a lager from Linden Street, an Oakland microbrewery.
- Paula Wirth / Eat Drink OaklandJuly 5, 2012Selected as one of the 2012 Bay Area's Top 100 Bars by the SF Chronicle, in the Dives category. http://www.sfgate.com/wine/article/Bay-Area-s-Top-100-Bars-Dives-3674566.php
- KellyDecember 7, 2014Right next to the port. Great place to go if you're new to the area and want to sample the flavor of Jack London Square.
- Ricky SherrillJuly 28, 2017Do not let the crooked & uneven floor throw you. This is the perfect spot for some after work drinks with friends & work colleagues..
- Just the historical aspect is beyond imagination! Gas lighting, slanting floor due to foundation settling, and tiny!!!
- Great outdoor seating, good beers on tap and super friendly staff. Definitely check it out.
- So much history here. It's been open since 1883. I'm probably sitting where Jack London wrote Call of the Wild. You have to go here.
- Michelle LJuly 7, 2013The most crooked bar in California! The floor and bar slant downward. The slanting is due to damage from the 1906 quake. They just didn't fix it! This place is small, quiet and intimate.
- Brett JohnsonNovember 7, 2011Small and cozy, full of atmosphere from back in the day. Watch out for the floor when you step in! Inside and outside seating, I suggest outside as there are few spots inside due to the size.
- If you're sitting at the bar, take a look down. Your footrest used to be a complete pipe. It's been worn down to what you see from almost 150 years of feet resting there.
- Lucas GardnerSeptember 25, 2019Great place to grab a drink and sit outside on a nice night. Recommended
- Stephanie LocknerOctober 25, 2015Great deinks, amazing bartenders that had us laughing the whole time we were there
- Nathan RhoadsJuly 10, 2011For a bit of history, stop by and grab a drink. Great outdoor seating, too, but have at least one at the historic bar.
- Rom ComOctober 22, 2014So much personality. It's tipped because of an earthquake in the early 20th century.
- Bring your dog and sit on the patio or just bring your puppy over for a sip of water at the light post.
- Elyse CorwinNovember 26, 2011The floor is slanted from the 1906 earthquake. Be careful with your drink when sitting at the bar.
