Nostalgia, this is the place you remember growing up. There is nothing especially great here it is all nicely executed and served well but there are other options. Go because you love the memories.
Inside out burger in a pretzel bun and the fried onions rocked! Even better was the staff - excellence from beginning to end. Hackney's has made it to the top of my must do when in Chicago list!

Their burgers are ground fresh and absolutely delicious. Very simple menu and phenomenal beers on tap (with good German imports). Make sure to try the cheese curds!
Three words: gluten free burger. I believe it is just an Udi's bun but hey, works for me. They also give a good warning that the bun is GF but they are not a GF kitchen so be careful.
Attention to quality has slipped. Pretzel bun was so cold it couldn't be cut. Another couple sent theirs back for warming so I wasn't alone. Onions were burned. Once good place is no longer relevant.
They have managed to cram in several tables over their capacity. Be prepared to share your personal space. Other than the space issue, good, cheap food
