Gregarious Barnett: The house was built in 1858 by Joseph Mabry, Jr. The house served as headquaters for various generals from the noth and the south during the city's alternating occupations.
Gregarious Barnett: Constructed as a residence for Drury P. Armstrong in 1834. It is also called the "Armstrong-Lockett House." The house served as Confederate General Joseph B. Kershaw's headquaters in 1863.

Gregarious Barnett: The monument was dedicated on Nov 29, 1914, by the UDC chapter 89. The 51st anniversary of the battle. "To the memory of the Confederate soldiers who fell in the assault on Fort Sanders."
Gregarious Barnett: Most of the 1600 Confederates and 50-60 Union prisoners of war buried here were lost to disease. An impressive 48 foot tall monument of a Confederate soldier facing north is the centerpiece.
