Commuters at rush hour, tourists all day long. A wonderful piece of NYC history. Great assortment of stores if shopping is your thing as well as good restaurant & bar scene...
A free (and excellent) walking tour leaves every Friday at 12:30pm across the street in the atrium of 120 Park. Goes over the history and architecture of the Grand Central area.
The 67 tracks are numbered according to their geographic location in the terminal building rather than the trains' destinations, because all of the trains terminate at Grand Central.
Stand in the middle of the main hall, pull up the YouTube app on your phone, and watch the amazing Grand Central dance scene from The Fisher King. https://youtu.be/lASPrnWf6cA
There is a very cool whispering hall just south of the famous main room with the ceilingmural. If you exit that main area on the southeast side and make a right, a right, go down a hall, it's there
Pause to view Grand Central's glittering ceiling painted with a map of the constellations from the night sky. Shops, an annual holiday market, special events, and restaurants also attract attention. Read more
Grand Central Terminal is the quintessential New York City's train station shown in many movies and tv shows with its interior grand central plaza surrounded by grand staircases and platform entrances
This is a great meeting place. Centrally located in NYC's midtown, most natives will meet at the "info booth"in the middle of the main lobby, where the four-faced opal clock sits on top.
If you’re a citibike rider, there is the main bike dock with tons of bikes available at the south end of the terminal, or if you’re planning on taking the bike west or north, there’s the 44th st dock.
If your traintrack has 2 digits its on the upper level. If it has triple digits train is on the lower level. Higher track #s on the West Side of the Terminal...(Rite Aid TrainMuseum Side)
Look up. If you're in the main concourse, look for the constellation of Cancer the crab; they left a brick of what it looked like before renovation (it's the really dark square in the corner).
So beautiful. It's a great place to visit and all of the subways are here so you're able to travel from one place to another. Must visit if you are in New York!
Take photos in the main concourse - it's a really architecturally beautiful terminal. In the winter you'll find great markets and a holiday trainexhibit.
What a station!!!! A must visited place, but you should do it late at night, because at morning hours it is so much crowded and you will miss all that beauty.....
You may not need to visit Grand Central Terminal when in New York City but, this iconic building is worth a stop to take in a slice of the local life and admire its beauty
There's a Shake Shack downstairs where you can not only get the burger of your dreams, but also a bottle of wine for the road to go with it. Your commute just got 100x better.
Grand central station used to be a filthy.. windows and ceiling covered in black dirt from cigarettes.. it’s since been restored to its former glory. One small patch of black remains on the roof.
It is always a highlight seeing the hustle and bustle of so many people in one place. The astronomical ceiling is beautiful and the architecture is typical of the era!
The world's greatest train terminal. Great shops and lots of hidden gems here. Definitely look into its history, and marvel at the splendor of this magnificent landmark!
Amazing inside. The ceiling light show is amazing at Xmas time.Lovely shops and of course; "The Oyster Bar" has excellent food and a nice place to bring a date, girlfriend, wife, etc.
Take a free tour around Grand Central Station to have a better insight of the architecture and structure of this building!! Check out the constellation mural on the ceiling, it's amazing :-)
ProTip: amazing selfie light from the Apple signs on the stairs leading to the Apple store. Use them to light your face with the station in the background!
I highly recommend the Audio Tour which is only $5 or included with most city passes. It does a great job of explaining everything around the terminal (and why it's not a station)
Almost didn't want to check in to my little midtown Oasis. Great spot for lunch or just to sit and unwind and in the sun. Come after 2pm and you should have no problem nabbing a table.
Gorgeous train terminal. It has a Michelin rated restaurant and many other great dining and shopping options. If you want to start off you day right and are taking a train, this is the place to be.
Don’t call it “Grand Central Station” (that’s the name of the nearby Post Office). Iconic and a must-see while visiting NYC. The shops are more numerous and better than ever.
If you're visiting NY for the first time you have to visit this awesome place. You can take a coffee or even buy fruit because it has a fresh market inside.
For the city’s freshest selection of oysters, head downstairs to the beloved Oyster Bar, which has been serving up briny shellfish (and chowders and fresh fish) under a vaulted tiled roof for decades.
Check out the Black Square in one of the corners of the ceiling, shows what it was like when they allowed cigars! Learn this and so much more from our professional guides on a tour with us today! #hqt Read more
Do you know there is Tennis court on one of the floors of Grand Central? Maybe the 4th floor? Open to the public. Vanderbilt courts of something. Courts are affordable by 10pm.
Billy Taggart tails Paul Andrews through Grand Central Station and boards a train with him in Broken City (2013) as Paul travels to meet the Mayor's wife in a secluded beach house.
The tours are well worth it. Meet in the Station Master's office, try to see the glass catwalks, hear all the terminal's secrets. Even as a local, I learned a ton. Really enjoyed it.
Must visit place in New York. Many may miss out this iconic building. Beautiful structure and an extra visit to the Apple Store located inside as well.
Luv luv this place...the bars, restaurant, shopping lots of shopping most of the subway r connected...the 5 pm rush I just luv being @ central...check juniors cheese cake and the oysters bar the best
The constellation ceiling and the pretty Beaux Artsarchitecture is truly one of a kind in NYC. It's becoming a dying, rare breed unfortunately to have such buildings around.
Look for the corner of the whispers (or it’s called something like that). Great view. If you need to rest, go to the Dinning court and you’ll find good options.
