Going midday (12-2) is probably your best bet, less crowds to deal with. Lay up on the loooong 9th hole, you can save par with a two-putt.
Use the little scoring tables at each hole to hold your scorecard while you putt; a very simple touch that makes this amazing course even more enjoyable.
Instead of passing the scorecard around, designate one (honest) person to keep score. It usually makes the game go quicker.
The Gardens course is fun, but definitely geared toward children. Play the Fairways if you are looking for a frustrating challenge.
