Check in on a Monday or Tuesday for the special: 2-for-1 tickets, free soda, free popcorn. It's like $18 worth of free stuff. Good for a cheapdate night: intimate theater, comfy seats.
I love that they host events like the Black Harvest FilmFestival but they have the most horrible seats. Folks end up literally between your legs because they lean back so far

Pros: The films are great, as are the prices (if you're a member or a student), and they sell beer. Cons: The seats aren't very comfy and the entrance smells like pee.
The membership here is totally worth it. $5 movies and 4 free popcorns is worth the $50 or so price tag. Best movie house in Chicago in my opinion: programming and venue.
