Porterhouse is one of the best in NYC. Their home made sauce is one of a kind. Fabulous presentation of the dry-aged beef room in front of the entrance.
Porterhouse for two was so good, hashbrowns while good wouldnt get next time, & Mac & Cheese while hot was delicious, but only okay when it cooled off. Cesar, Wedge & Beet salads were very tasty too!
The beef carpaccio was a great appetizer and absolutely drooled over the 10oz Filet Mignon with Blue Cheese crust. This place is fantastic old New York (despite the pandemic).
The place could definitely use a facelift but it remains a NYC classic. Can’t go wrong with any of their steaks but don’t let the chicken parm scare you. 🐮
Prime rib for two was very good, but could use a little more marbleization, mashed potatoes were smooth and creamy and delicious. The Brussels were a little undercooked.
Outstanding experience all around. The filet mignon is tender and delicious. The wine list is extensive and the service was friendly and professional. Classic NYC dining experience!
standard porterhouse for two, kingly prime rib, and even a humble chopped steak. Like filet mignon? Chef Alan Ashkinaze will season your beef eight different ways.
We took friends from over seas to this classic NY steakhouse. If you get an app, wedge salad! You really don't need the whole steak, split it and get a couple sides.
You will be amazed before you enter the restaurant , because the meat locker is impressive and visible from the outside. The porterhouse steak is excellent!
During a recent lunch visit , I had to contend with a foul odor upon arrival. Steak and swordfish very good. The waiters have sung Happy Birthday too many times !
Forget the pricyPorterhouse, bone-in filet and rib-eye. At just $24 the chopped steak (a supple grind of rib-eye, chuck and short ribs) delivers magic its more expensive cousins don’t. Read more
Also, the texture and quality of sirloin steak is amazing, but the taste is somewhat plain if you are used to heavy seasoned food. Don't forget to see the beautiful aged beef at the walk-in=]
Imagine a dark steakhouse scene from a PT Anderson or Tarantino movie. Add about 80 people, a (literal) doorway room full of carcasses, and a staff of jittery (powdery?) caucasian middle ages waiters
So here is the deal. I got the rib steak. The meat was very tender but the cooking was awful. Very unevenly grilled. From well done to raw next to the bone. I had ordered a medium for the record.
Been here 2 other times. They have best display of beef, great atmosphere. Tonight, They lived up to expectations. Excellent bone-in rib eye. THE BEST Mashed Potatoes EVER!
Quality not for what you pay for.We ordered two glasses of wine and they charged us $45 dollars. Unacceptable for not letting us know before. We ordered medium steaks and they brought us medium well.
With the best USDA prime dry-aged steak, a classic cocktail list and a wait staff that never forgets a name, Gallaghers serves up an authentic NYC experience.
