Brett LocklearAugust 7, 2015I travel a great deal and this airport by far is the easiest and quickest one I've used, and yes, I fly into some pretty remote areas. Friendly staff, efficient process makes it a joy to use!

The entrance to TSA is awesome with the huge water feature and tree. I always stop and enjoy, helps make me feel less rushed.
Isabel TiptonMarch 21, 2012Best airport I've ever been to. Quick, small, extremely clean, and the staff are great. Starbucks just past security. Free wifi and outlets too! Plus, they have an art exhibit to pass the time.
Shop after you get thur security that way you don't have to pull out and rearrange everything. I love this airport. Very easy to use. Very friendly folks.
Power spot chairs. Great to charge your electronic devices before a flight. A must for all airports.
J DJanuary 20, 2019Nice, quaint, and welcome airport. It’s just the perfect size. It looks fairly new or newly renovated. It has a Starbucks so everything is complete.
The airport from first glance is very nice, but you can tell that the owners of the airport are penny pinchers. They make you take your bags to be screened in an different area than where you check in
Lee Francis plays live jazz every Tuesday afternoon, a real delight.
I've travelled domestically and internationally, and TYS is easily the fastest and friendliest of all airports I've been to.
FYI... Yes this airport is small. But if your leaving on a flight between 4:30AM and 7AM.. and think you can make your flight checking in late your going to be in for a shock. Get to the airport ASAP!
Dhruv SahniJanuary 30, 2017Really tiny airport. But you know what? That's a good thing! Compact and self sufficient with plenty of plug points and seating. It can get noisy though as all the gates are located in one location
Don't miss the gourmet chicken tenders at Ruby Tuesdays. You will most likely be on a plane with Knoxville's most well known celebrity, Tina from Survivor.
Love leaving an hour before my flight with a 30 minute drive & still getting through security with plenty of time to spare. It's small: if you have a delay/cancellation-CALL to get a flight changed!

All these previous tips are correct. But for earlier mid week flights the lines can get LONG for security, give yourself a little longer then you would think those mornings.
Taking a taxi to or from the airport maybe cheaper than parking your car. (Go Taxi) $2/mile?
TSA at McGhee Tyson Airport is amazing. They can move a line that stretches to the front door through security in 15 minutes. Bravo!
If you park in garage, try parking nearest 3rd floor bridge / elevator in the center. Easier walk across bridge to Airline Counters & all Airport gates.

Security lines were longest I've ever seen this morning. Backed up all the way to the escalator. Went smoothly. Folks nice. Southern hospitality. Even given free cup of hot water for tea at Cinnabon.
Disregard the 10 min security tip. @ 630 am the second line is past the start of the waterfall... Please TSA, open all 3 lines during peak times and implement a status only line.
Great Airport! Rocking chairs, loads of plug ins all over the place, clean, efficent, laid back, good restaurants, cool plane side checked bag return, wifi. some other airports could follow TYS lead.

Ruby Tuesday’s food is the best at the airport. Starbucks coffee is the best coffee.
Love this airport. It may be small. But. Security is friendly. Comfy rocking chairs. New Starbucks. Relaxing atmosphere.- Great airport, clean, easy to get in and out, and usually a quick security line.
Such a nice airport to come in and go out of. Fast baggage service and nice people.

If you check in outside at curbside, often they won't weigh your bag. Can save you some $$ if you're it's a little over 50lbs!

Sometimes a small airport is really great, I enjoy how fast I get out and most of the times in.
You can usually park really close to the front door of the departures entrance to the terminal. Go into long term parking to the roof, and then drive around to the section near bridge to terminal

It's nice to have a good experience in an airport every once and a while. TYS makes me wish all airports were this small.- Small, efficient, and easy small airport. Starbucks is good.
- ATM's Outside Security: 1st TN/Suntrust are OUTSIDE SECURITY just past the gift shop. Inside Security: Regions ATM by Food Court/restrooms to right after TSA. Indep ATM past Ruby Tuesday nr Gate 1
Don't get lost at their one concourse and 12 gates! In a hurry? Don't worry, security lines are usually short and quick.
