San Diego Zoo • May 20, 2011Look around and you’re sure to see one meerkat on guard duty, usually perched on a high point in the exhibit. Meerkats live in a colony, and the adults take turns being the lookout for danger.

San Diego Zoo • May 20, 2011The Zoo’s adult male giraffe, Silver, is more than 17 feet tall. With such a long neck, it’s surprising that giraffes have the same number of vertebrae that we do—each one is just much bigger!
