- The BEST restaurant in Syracuse! Try the 'swag sampler' as an app - deviled eggs, shrimp, fried green tomatoes, and wings. The ribs are amazing and all of the sides are homemade! (Try the cole slaw!)
- NicoleJune 13, 2015The Tres Niños dish is a great way to get brisket, ribs, pulled pork, and 2 sides all on one plate. The side of beans was way too sweet for me, but everything else was delicious -- esp. pulled pork.
- NikNak BarJune 19, 2018Really enjoyed the food. Even when they were super busy, we didn’t have 2 wait long for a table. There’s a ($5) parking lot across from the restaurant so you can park, eat & take a nice stroll.
- Gabriel HayesJanuary 31, 2016Last time I was there I tried the Dino Poutine and loved it. Similar to Disco Fries, it tops french fries with gravy, house-made pimento cheese and pulled pork. Awesome twist on the Montreal dish.Upvoted Sep 23
- Scott GrimesApril 30, 2015Food is as to be expected. It's a bbq joint and they live up to their billing. Had the combo plater with brisket and it was the star of the plater. Great blues vibe with very attentive wait staff.
- Eric FriedmanJanuary 28, 2014The family style order is an amazing deal. Choose the brisket for the other meat. Definitely feeds 5-6. For sides try the Mac n cheese for sure! The sauce here is off the charts delicious!
- Gabriel HayesJanuary 31, 2016If you want to try something a little different, I suggest the Pork-sket Sandwich. Its BBQ Brisket layered with cheese and jalapeños topped with pulled pork and coleslaw on a sandwich roll.
- The original and best location by far. Try as much as you can but my favorites are the pulled pork and brisket. Preemptive Prilosec FTW!
- Gabriel HayesAugust 1, 2015All of the meats are so good. Love the chicken, love the pulled pork, love the brisket and love the ribs. If you are with a group, get the family dinner that allows you to share them all.
- Jake SmithAugust 25, 2013The Carolina Pulled Pork sandwich satisfied all requirements: tender pork, creamy slaw, zesty sauce (the "Sensuous"), but it just didn't blow me away. Get the platter to sample the delicious sides.
- A Syracuse staple, you have to come in here and have their delicious slow-grilled meats. The ribs are a great favorite of mine and the sides are so flavorful!
- Gabriel HayesAugust 1, 2015While I enjoy all of the new Dinosaurs opening across the Northeast, they do not replicate the atmosphere of here. I really enjoy the grunge. Particularly enjoy coming here after Syracuse basket games
- Blackout Again?May 15, 2016Best freaking BBQ in the States, if you're around this is a MUST! Mc n cheese is awesome, ribs are out of this world, burgers are the best in town, waitress nice and cool
- John Register, CSP™May 1, 2015OMGoodness. This is a must if you like wet BBQ (Which I do!) and you happen to be in Syracuse. Fall off the bone good!
- The soul of Syracuse! Everything is delicious - but you must try the fried green tomatoes and the cole slaw! All of the BBQ dishes are excellent!
- Barry BloomMay 19, 2015Just smells great. Real BBQ. Place packed for supper as you can see in the photo. Expect food to be as good as the ambience.
- Nathan PMay 14, 2023This, was the best BBQ I’ve had in the North East. Bar none. Everything was on point and well seasoned. Wish I could eat here weekly.
- Dee HNovember 15, 2015Wings were exceptional, so was the cornbread, cheddar ale soup, mash & gravy and the sweet potato pecan pie. Service was a tad dodgy but the food was with the Annoyance.
- The original and the best. Amazingly fast service at the bar. Save room for pie. Always ask for the veggie and soup of the day, and most of all, get the Mac and cheese.
- Jim NolanDecember 17, 2015Great bbq in a town where you wouldn't expect it. Very tender baby back ribs. Probably the best beans I've had anywhere. Cornbread is a big disappointment
- Men's Health MagJuly 9, 2012The folks at Dino take a slab of St. Louis ribs and coat it with a secret rub, smoke it, and glaze it to perfection. Pair it with the sausage-infused Bar-B-Que Beans and Dino's creamy coleslaw.
- SU_VPAMarch 27, 2013"Eat at Dinosaur Bar-B-Que" is a popular tip for students looking for things to do during their time at SU. Stop by this Syracuse landmark to enjoy a BBQed meal like you've never had before!
- If you are in Central New York, this is the place to be!! I love the brisket and the bbq sauces are amazing!
- Jared SturtevantAugust 25, 2013Order your beer flights (4) 5-ounce glasses. A reasonable price & a nice variety. Currently that's a better value than buying a pint
- Gabriel HayesAugust 1, 2015Love the Pulled Pork. If I had to choose just one of their meats (a decision I am glad I do not have to make), I would go with the pulled pork.
- Brian BassettJuly 22, 2013A bit of a hike for dinner, the Dinosaur is for some of the very best BBQ on the east coast. The diverse crowd is great, but be sure avoid knocking over the line of Harleys out front.
- Cedric JusticeMarch 2, 2021Barbecue, sides, beer selection. The bartender and bar back were cool, too. The coleslaw was dynamite.
- Juan KuhnleApril 18, 2015Best BBQ in the área. Crowded with people to go in. Waiting to be called while enjoying a great beer
- Jens FogOctober 17, 2015Wings, pulled pork, fried green tomatoes , cornbread and Mac and cheese are winners. The brisket is not on par with the rest
- JonFebruary 22, 2015Come hungry, but not too hungry. There will probably be a dinner wait, so it's best not to show up starving. Great food.
- Gabriel HayesAugust 1, 2015Be prepared to wait. I have waited 2 hours many times. It is worth the wait. Just grab a few beers at the bar and take it all in.
- Jeanne ChuApril 15, 2016Smoke-House Salad w/ pulled pork or brisket & garlic ginger vinaigrette dressing. I would drink the garlic ginger vinaigrette! To die for.
- Pulled pork, brisket, ribs, chicken. The fried green tomatoes are awesome.
- Myriam BurgosMay 14, 2016Excellent BBQ food, service and ambiance. A lot of food, had to ask for a box to take out.
- Scott NapierApril 30, 2013The ribs are simply unreal, and the chili is so good I have no words to describe it. The Mac and Cheese is just average at best, but the chili more than made up for it.
- The wait, crowdedness, & narrowness may seem discouraging, but the food is well worth it! Try the wings with wango tango and some fried green tomatoes.
- RoundedAugust 4, 2011This place is jamming on the weekends - best to go in the mid afternoon if you don't want to wait a couple hours. The bloody marys are amazing. The mojito chicken steak is a must try for lunch or di
- VisitSyracuseOctober 26, 2011Say "Dinosaur BBQ" to a local and watch their mouth start to water. Try the Wango Tango sauce over a rack of ribs. Check out the funky wall art & live music & enjoy this Syracuse celebrity! Read more
- KevinJuly 1, 2013You don't even have to ask, good food what else? Brisket, ribs and chicken. Great sides also. Gotta go! I forgot to order greens. Peace
- Kayla SherwoodSeptember 18, 2016Ribs were amazing, well seasoned and tender. Service was great even though it was packed. The sides leave much to be desired, they aren't very good.
- Ben CaronSeptember 6, 2015Great food. Friendly waitresses. I thought it was pretty loud though and it may get even louder on nights with bands. Food is worth it!
- Caitlin LawlerJune 28, 2016You have to stop here for some great bbq if you are in the Syracuse area. Everything is delicious and you get big portions
- Gabriel HayesAugust 1, 2015Love all the sides. Particularly love the cornbread, the mac n cheese and the bar-b-que baked beans.
- Guy ZaczekOctober 19, 2013Not only great food but most nights real barroom bands. Just drive by any night of the week and if the large neon light says live music tonight, then you are in luck.
- Gabriel HayesAugust 1, 2015Love the different BBQ sauces. My favorite probably is Wango Tango but definitely try a few different ones.
- Tony VolturnoSeptember 15, 2014Great food, live music, and loud in the evenings. I suggest the tres hombres if you want a sample a bit of everything!
- VisitSyracuseFebruary 3, 2011Recently voted Best BBQ in America by ABC’s “Good Morning America Weekend” viewers, the original Dinosaur Bar-B-Que is a Syracuse landmark. Don’t leave without trying the Wango Tango BBQ Sauce!
- ToriDecember 15, 2012Try the Tres Hombre to sample multiple items on the menu. If you like dark beer, the Dino Porter Pint has a refreshing vanilla taste!
- David VannMarch 20, 2018As a Southerner, I have to begrudgingly admit this is some good barbeque. Get the ribs and don't look back.
