First of all, the location is very understated so make sure you know the address. Food-wise we ordered 6 a la cart and 3 desserts (plenty). The ice cream desserts were the highlight.
Love the combination of flavors. In one seating I had dishes featuring ultra delicate, to super rustic. And at $85, one of the better tasting menu values in SF!
Back after two years. Much more consistent this time. I tried the tasting menu and most dishes were good or very good. Great experience, presentation and service.
Special and surprising menu. All dishes were complex and interesting. Some dishes were great, others just didn't work out. Happy I went there but not sure I will come again. Not an everyday place.

Double down on ordering the huge hunk of perfectly cooked pork belly with plum, pickled onions, and mustard seed. The fat has the texture of buttery bone marrow.

Spare your pocketbook the over priced under thought out tasting menu. Great ideas are not always brought to life. Overall: disappointment. At least I had good company.
I was overall not impressed by the cuisine. Not sure if the chef changed, but I took the menu and felt like nothing was standing out. Also after 5 or 6 plates, I was still hungry. Definitely overrated

I really enjoyed visiting alone and eating at the bar, talking to the waiters, and feeling the vibe of commonwealth. The tasting menu was like a playground for my mouth, too.
Great food paired with the sleek, Mission-hip atmosphere, reasonable prices for the high-end fare, and the charitable outreach of the space, it's a hard combination not to love. [Eater 38 Member]
