Great tastings in a beautiful and iconic California winery. Friendly and knowledgeable staff who are all eager to tell you about the historic "Judgement of Paris"
Beautiful location and amazing wine! Didn't know about the movie, Bottleshock, before I came but worth the visit. Also part of the Passport tour, so worth getting and pays for itself after 2 wineries.
Great story and if u sneak to the back room, even if they say it's full, check to make sure and then u can read more about their history&see cool pics. Julia&Kevin like this room, as u can see!
We had a fantastic wine tasting with Sean, who truly knows this wine and the entire region's. We whole-heatedly recommend a trip to Chateau Montelena for its delicious wine and knowledgable service.
What a beautiful place to visit! Def my one of my faves in the many winery's I visited in my my visit to Cali.great wines, plenty of photo ops.cool gifts aswell.
Wines are fine but the prices are inflated. There are many, many equally fine wines and wineries in CA without the steep tasting fees and $50+ per bottle.
Watch the movie Bottleshock for a cool history on this particular winery. And the grounds here are fantastic. Walk around the Lake, gardens, and beautiful building.
The place that put Napa on the map in the France v. Napa challenge of 76. The movie Bottleshock is based on the event but fictional, nice tasting room beautiful grounds.
Chateau Montelena caused a sensation when their 1976 Chardonnay put California wines on the map and beat French wines to take top honors at a Paris blind tasting.
Love the architecture but the tasting was a bit disappointing - rushed and not very knowledgeable - despite not being very busy. Would have liked to learn and see more!
Check if they are cheating with the tax. They say tx is included in the price just as other wine yards but then adding it anyway to the bill. Nice setting but lousy atmosphere.
You can visit Villa Ca'Toga nearby on Myrtledale Rd. every Saturday from May through October. Tickets available at Ca'Toga Gallery 1206 Cedar St. in downtown Calistoga. Read more
No reason to spend any time stopping here. Scenery pretty but staff, especially our pourer, was not pleasant at all!! So many other vineyards that are much more pleasant to visit!
