Wondering cold and forlorn through the empty streets of Budapest on a freezing New Year's Day, I came upon this fin de siècle gem of a café and it's breakfast buffet. Wonderful, warm, welcoming.
Nagyon ízletes újdonság: Borjúhátszín fügével, paprikás szalámival, újburgonyával és ehető hüvelyű cukorborsóval. Very tasteful: Veal sirloin with fig, paprika salami, new potatoes and pois mangetout.
Great place to feel yourself drinking coffee in 19th century!Tasty desserts, coffee. They say there is Wi-Fi (password like central1887), but really no need.Just enjoy your coffee and atmosphere :) !
This was the most spectacular café I've ever had the pleasure of going to, there were so many desserts to pick from and what I got was delicious! Truly authentic with locals enjoying themselves.
The beef stew with egg barley is absolutely delicious. Lovely atmosphere, early 20th century style, with dark red cushioned benches and live piano. Great coffee too! We were enamoured.
A historic interior with paintings, chandeliers, and wooden furniture-masterpieces. Centrál is one of the best in the business, and has a tasty selection of cakes, pastries, and Hungarian cuisine.
Selection of cakes in the morning. We tried Ezterhazi tort and it was super delicious! The breakfast is ok, but nothing spectacular. Eggs Benedict in the menu means “one” egg!
Café is great, coffee is delicious, but the prices are not low at all. Coffee is two times more expensive than in regular cafés. Toilets are unpleasant, I’d expect more stylish WC in such a place.
Beware that the visitors are to be met by a water at the entrance and depending on purpose of visit (dinner or just coffee and cake) shall be escorted to appropriate part of the cafe.
Prices are very attractive especially given the long history of the café. Their lemonade is very refreshing, thereby a good option for scorching summer🍹
Good location and atmosphere, nice deserts. But suggest to check change in the end. Having 13% of compulsory service fee I did not receive exact change back. Sorry that was upset for me.
