Remember to run for your bag on the carousel as if it were going into a place with fire and steel jaws, rather than it coming back out on the other side. It is the new "in thing".
Canberra airport bus was good ($10 each way & chatty driver). Lovely airport; not fussed that there are only a couple of eating and coffee options, I go there to catch planes.

If you’re flying with @VirginAustralia, never join the bag drop queue at this airport. Just join the check-in queue (even if you’ve checked in online) as it always moves faster than bag drop queue.- Most common questions answered: Arrivals is on the lower level, everybody comes through where the yellow wall is. Departures is up the escalator behind the red wall (yes, check in is there also).
Cici NguyenSeptember 15, 2013A newly renovated airport with potential. It may be small in terms of coffee shops and stores but it's big in scenery around the area. Take a moment to enjoy the view- Kerbside Pick Up is not available at this airport. Use the green or red carpark pick up zones with 10 minutes free. Picking up on the single carriageway road just annoys other road users, don't do it!
- Colours explained: Red is for departures (upper level), yellow is for arrivals (lower level) and blue is just a random colour seemingly used at either end of the terminal near Gates 3 and 14.
Tm BoOctober 22, 2023Tiny for an International Airport. Very speedy screening. Relax at one of the airport lounges or cafes and bars.
Insanely small airport for a national capital. Makes it easy to find anything and everyone- Self service check-in available for all QANTAS flights. Speed things up with a Q Bag Tag to avoid using the kiosks so you can head straight to bag drop after checking in online or on your mobile.
Jaya NPNovember 2, 2012If you'll return a rental car here, you must spare some time more than usual before flight. The queue can be up to 20-30 mins esp. with AVIS and Budget.- If traveling Qantas on a Saturday evening, A Brisbane, Melbourne and Perth flight leave withing 15mins of each other. Get there early to avoid the queues at ckin and security for these flights!
- You can watch bags moving through the belt system in the central atrium, just look for the glass sections of floor.

Crazy color changing fountains in the drop off area are the second best part of the airport.
Scott SinclairJune 30, 2013If you just got off the plane in Canberra, and are lucky to only be transitting, the Virgin Lounge is to the right.- 10 minute pick up zone in red car park. Express pick up zone in green car park. Both provide 10 mins free, but Express provides a waiting room for passengers which is much more appropriate.
The taxi "commissionaires" are out of control! Don't discuss work in a cab 🚕 you'll be forced to share! @canberraairport

- Travelex have two locations. Landside in the arrivals hall, central section. Airside, turn left after security and the box is now in the wall. Opens early but is not open late.
While this airport is a MASSIVE improvement on what is was, the best part about it is still that it's the gateway out of Canberra... Sorry Capital Territoreans...- Power points are located in the silver boxes under most white columns.

Well it's easy to get in and out of, so that's a distinct up-side.
- Missing Bag? If it is with Qantas please see the baggage service counter next to carousel 4. For Virgin baggage blues see staff at check in upstairs. Qantas staff cannot do anything for Virgin pax.

Make sure your deodorant and shaving cream have a lid, or you will lose them!
They won't visually inspect film (unlike every other airport). Kind of annoying when I have some which is irreplaceable. Grrr- Food and drink are more over priced than usual so plan ahead, theres also really bad phone reception with no free wifi
