This live music indie lounge is a venerable Lower East Side institution. The bi-level locale includes a sweets shop up top and a stage downstairs which regularly plays host to tunes from local talent.
Indie-rock still has a home in Manhattan at Cake Shop. The ceiling is low and the stage non-existent, so get there early and get to the front if you want to see the latest rising stars.
“If you want to see the band, you’ll have to get next to the speakers by the stage. Bring earplugs if you don’t want ringing ears for a few days.” More at http://www.partyearth.com/venues/cake-shop.
