My favorite writing spot. Whether you're looking for tea, wine, juice or coffee, they've got a wide selection. Also good for a low-key breakfast - the egg sandwich is the best around.
Super-homey; a quaint nook for a solo breakfast or couple-sized. Friendly, attentive staff will find you a seat when it gets full. Unique menu options and free wifi. Push bathroom door hard to open ;)
Solid variety of baked goods...the New York Cheesecake is as good as the music selection which is to say, quite good! Try the Harney and Sons Early Grey.
Nice sidewalk cafe right across from Tompkins Square Park. Good for spending an afternoon reading or catching up with friends, but don't expect any spectacular food or drinks.
Underwhelming iced tea, surly staff and iffy wifi are saved by a great location (opposite Tompkins Square Park), plenty of seats, and the world's best brownie.

Be warned if you plan to come here to get work done, the wifi is consistently and notoriously slow and unstable. That problem aside, it's a great daytime working atmosphere.
Great atmosphere, great loose leaf tea, but they charge for wifi and the bathroom situation is a bit weird. Love the booths in the back or sitting outside in the summertime.
Great place to study or read. They don't pressure you to make a purchase in order for you to stay. Food is ehhh.... I like the small portioned kids menu. Coffee is quite strong.
Pretty slow service but I almost prefer that to speedy service then glaring servers when you're sitting down doing work and taking up a table for more than 15 minutes.
Speak-easy, neighborhood café in the East Village (across Tompkins Square Park). We offer a full menu -- breakfast, lunch and dinner. Beer & Wine & Happy hour!
