Their permanent collection is always interesting for all ages. One of my favorite places to go in New York is their Visible Storage Study Center. I could spend hours there discovering new pieces.

Check out The Dinner Party by Judy Chicago in the Elizabeth A. First Saturdays are wonderful, and the museum's got a great collection of feminist art. It's a neighborhood institution and one of the best museums in NYC.

Don't miss the Assyrian reliefs -- fascinating, and incredibly ancient.- the little bodega they used to have at BRIC (or one just like it) is here on the 5th floor. favorite for children
