Sandwich Spot · Bayou St. John · 203 tips and reviews
Eric: Oysters only available Monday/Wednesday. The shrimp is good but the line gets crazy-long. You can go inside to the bar and order from the same menu.
Cajun and Creole Restaurant · Mid-City · 67 tips and reviews
Eric: Classic New Orleans cuisine. They do beautiful things with crab and crawfish. Right on Canal so it's easy to hop a streetcar to/from the quarter.
Seafood Restaurant · Lower Garden District · 205 tips and reviews
Eric: Incredible. The fried bread, grilled royal red shrimp, brussels sprouts with chili vinegar: all were simply stunning. Best restaurant we visited in our week in New Orleans.
Caribbean Restaurant · French Quarter · 83 tips and reviews
Eric: Stellar tiki drinks (don't be afraid to go off-menu: the bitter mai tai is amazing) and excellent food (fried ribs, corn with habanero mayo, tostones). The patio is an oasis when the weather's nice.
Cajun and Creole Restaurant · Central Business District · 52 tips and reviews
Eric: Cajun classics done right. If you need an introduction to cajun cuisine, this is as good a place to start as any. Étouffée, jambalaya, gumbo, the list goes on and on. Great fried catfish too.
Coffee Shop · French Quarter · 119 tips and reviews
Eric: Excellent espresso from a rotating cast of roasters from around the country. If you're into third-wave coffee, this is place to go. Currently pulling: Passion House from Chicago. It's excellent.
Eric: It's a pain to get out here without a car, but trust me: it's worth the cabfare there and back. Best cocktail bar in town: inventive recipes, new flavors, all perfectly crafted.

Hotel Bar · French Quarter · 273 tips and reviews
Eric: Get a barstool if you can. Order a Vieux Carré and while the world is spinning around you, imagine what this place was like when the drink was invented here in 1938.
Jazz and Blues Venue · Marigny · 134 tips and reviews
Eric: There's usually a cover, but they've got the best booze on Frenchmen St, and the tunes are great. Once you've paid the cover you can come and go as you like (with your beverage in a to-go cup).
Brewery · Lower Garden District · 25 tips and reviews
Eric: They opened a week ago and aren't pouring their own beer yet. That said, if the quality of the tap list is any indication, they're gonna be a shining beacon of hops in an otherwise hop-poor town.
