Ordered the Gumbo. Had to look outside to be sure I was in Detroit and not New Orleans. Very friendly staff. The best I have had in years. The food has real soul in it!

Awesome mac and cheese (comes with a sprig of fresh rosemary). Candied sweet potatoes were also delicious.

It tastes home made. I had the half rack of ribs,with mac,yams,and southern corn. It was great. Im a customer for life now

I recommend the angry lobster! Not on the menu but ask and ye shall receive. Fried lobster over rice and smothered with gumbo - yum!

The twilight menu is such a great deal! $11.00 gets you a great dinner, two sides and desert plus sweet potato muffins and cornbread!

If the original -Beans & Cornbread Bistro is too crowded...go 5 doors over to their Carry Out Spot. They also offer very casual dining.

Nestled away in a strip mall of suburban Detroit is one of the metro area's best soul food restaurants. All of the usual soul food fare and then some.

Riblets-very good, fried okra-good; Salmon croquet-good; pork chop was dry & tough.Staff was rude, you are not allowed to move tables even if you just sat down.So don't let them sit you by the door.

The food is not as good as it was. The quality is not the same and the portions are smaller. Not worth the price. I need to find a new soul food restaurant. Highly disappointed!!
