Really outstanding museum! Many of these aircraft and artifacts that you will not see elsewhere. Remarkable how they have connected so many items to the aerospace history and industry of the area.
The docents are a wealth of information. Do yourself a favor and take advantage of their knowledge. It will definitely enhance the experience. Great way to spend the day with your family.
Once a month they have an open cockpit day. Go on that day. Fun for the kids, and the museum volunteers (many of which are former military) can tell you a lot about the planes.
If you're tagging along with someone and you're not really into aviation, you can still read the exhibit info for historical context. But I'd suggest fellow non-enthusiasts go on big event days.
An aviator’s trip to Connecticut wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the New England Air Museum. 75,000 sq feet of exhibit space includes aircraft & engine display. Yup, there's a PT6 too!
This year at the museum's Annual Space Expo, Charles Bourland, co-author of The Astronaut's Cookbook, will share his career with NASA developing menus for the astronauts.
The Museum houses over 80 aircraft and an extensive collection of engines, instruments, aircraft parts, uniforms and personal memorabilia. Plan a visit today to check out exciting aircraft, displays, exhibits and programs that are perfect for all ages!
