In 1949 the museum first opened in a house. OMSI's popularity surpassed the size of its facility & in 1992 the current building opened. OMSI is ranked as one of the top science centers in the US.
The garden opened in 2000. Most of the plants featured in the garden are indigenous to China, but no plants were brought from China due to import bans. Some plants in the garden are 100 years old.
Atmos is amazing here! Just visited from NY and couldn't find a better place that summarizes all of Portland than Doug Fir's Lounge.

If you find yourself needing salvation or divine inspiration drop a quarter and find it.
Have some time to spare, drop some quarters at Ground Kontrol and relive the golden age of video games. They also stock a nice selection of pinballs.
A sculpture located at the Portland Building that was created by Raymond Kaskey in 1985 and based on the city seal.
Possibly the best view in all of Portland. Park near the Zoo and take the easy 3 mile hike (both ways) up the wildwood trail to get the full experience.
