- Scott CumminsSeptember 27, 2013Use the toilet before leaving the aircraft, the transit lounge & Cloud Nine often have long queues!Upvoted 3 weeks ago
- Rewan PartiJanuary 16, 2017This airport is extremely outdated. Please carry $, € or £. The lounges are pretty dark and have little to no facilities. Star Alliance gold members go through a separated security gate which is quickUpvoted Aug 19
- Kamal KrishnaDecember 4, 2016There isn't an airport that's as bad. Long, mismanaged queues everywhere, insipid food choices, pathetic duty free, no Internet mostly and utter chaos all around. This place needs a manager.
- JoshJanuary 12, 2016Domestic etstarlounge wifi password is domcloud9. Horrendous airport, especially those working for Ethiopian air.
- Vivian LeiOctober 6, 2016If you fly Ethiopian Airlines and have a layover you can go to their service desk to get a voucher for food and/or hotel with free shuttle bus. They don't tell you - you need to ask!
- Ghitta BassonJune 2, 2018Beware. Duty free goods will be taken off you on transfer flights. You get it back at baggage reclaim at end destination but it's the last thing off the plane so you wait forever!
- The Ethiopian Airlines lounges does not accept up front payments for access. Plaza premium lounge at the far end of the huge departure hall is a decent alternative. At US$ 40 it is in the high end.
- Orlando PintoNovember 3, 2015Small airport,: some restaurants, coffee shops, souvenirs etc. There are two business lounges with Basic service: some chaise longs, sofas, small buffet (African dishes) and Internet access.
- Just make sure you are seated at the boarding gate once you have completed departure formalities.
- Charles Ryan TeoDecember 4, 2019Free Wifi available. Be prepared for mulitple times of security screening. One at the land side, another one at the air side and if you are flying to Europe and U.S, you be required to do another one.
- Nonso NdMarch 10, 2019Airport WiFi works great. If u need some work done, there's an internet Cafe at the end of the connecting gates, right before the entry to gate 18.
- One of the busiest airports in Africa, expansion ongoing, don't rely on the internet, sometimes it doesn't work
- Andrew WisemanJuly 16, 2017An utter dump. The worst airport I’ve ever been to. Confusing, spread out but extremely crowded, terrible food options, no functioning wifi. And I’ve been to Kabul, Port au Prince and Kandahar.
- Huge airport with a nice in-terminal hotel 🏨 albeit no hot 🥵 water 💧 this time! ☹️
- Dave RothJanuary 8, 2022Be prepared to go through security three times if you’re headed to the US. Also, there’s no food or drink available after the final checkpoint.
- I am a big fan of this airport. Comfy reclining chairs for naps and easy to access WiFi throughout the airport which makes life on international travels much nicer.Upvoted Aug 21
- Douwe de VriesDecember 29, 2017The best thing about the free WiFi is that nóthing worked except for Swarm so I could make an amazing check in 😜
- RNovember 12, 2015In case you forget to do currency exchange before immigration then go to any resto and ask them to give USD against birr. Hope this helps
- Want to revolutionize the travel industry? Put day beds in the waiting area. You're welcome.
- Prathima NaikAugust 14, 2022A good brighter intl airport ... so much nicer than Capetown airport ... definitely a good transit point.
- Addis Ababa's Bole is quite a busy airport. In times of overcrowding of boarding gates, use any alternative gate that's not overcrowded. They all lead to the same boarding place.
- RNovember 12, 2015Gate 1A -F, 2, 3 always have a big queue and ppl are standing for hrs. Make sure you come early
- Denis NziokaNovember 20, 2014Its not your average airport. Lots of security and oh, avoid the many 'willing' potters who want to carry your bags as they want tips later. This country only accepts USD, Euro or GBP! The hell!?!
- richard mandulaJune 4, 2019Remember to bring portable power, there no power sockets to recharge your gadgets
- if you are lucky you can get (must get, though) a yellow fever vaccination, plus certificate, for 4 USD
- Bun MizuharaJune 16, 2013If you can't find free WiFi, ask the airline staff at the service counter. They will be kind enough to tell you how.
- Al Shaima Al MadaniJune 9The airport is full of sleeping people at mid night if you have a connection flight you will not be served before 6 AM
- Simon EarlAugust 30, 2014Hide in the CloudNine 'lounge' until they tell you to board and you get fast tracked through security !
- Terrible airport. Three times security control since the entrance, three times to remove shoes, take off laptop etc. Don’t even allow liquids bought at their Duty Free to take on board.
- Michelle MimiMarch 7, 2012Its not fair that the atms are below the duty free and they don't accept birr at the duty free shops and yes free wifi and the perfume shops are a delight.
- JaneJune 14The airport wifi is very slow. All prices are in USD. They make you remove your shoes for security check.
- RNovember 19, 2015You can ask for WiFi password from Ethiopian lounge if the free airport WiFi doesn't work.
- JonySeptember 8, 2018Don’t take a layover here, and don’t depart from here. It doesn’t matter when your flight departs; they won’t let you through security until 1 hour before your flight.
- They take %7 commission for visa card use in duty free. Cigars is cheap also some perfumes.
- Exchange your currency for Birr in the luggage claim area. They don't charge any commission or fee!
- There are some drinking water points now, look for them by the central toilets. No wifi at the Gates C
- ThomasDecember 5, 2010Try to get into the Cloud Nine Lounge. Comfortable seats, clean toilets, good Food and drinks. WLAN on airport is available.
- Be sure not to miss ur flight lol(Announcements aint clear)
- Toné MApril 4, 2021What’s good here. Absolutely Nothing! It’s Hot, you go through 4 different checkpoints(TSA) screenings. Then there’s Nothing eat or drink in Gates A14-A16 another TSA screening after all the others.
- Vivian LeiOctober 6, 2016Been here twice now and the open wifi never worked. We met locals who said it never works.
- Andrew LeeJuly 15, 2013Flying Ethiopian, attitude is diff btwn ordeal and adventure. Delays, cancellations, or general confusion will make you queue. You'll get hotel voucher & food. Confirm bags, use wifi, stay vigilant.
